So, you’ve decided to come and see what we’ve done with the former fire station of the iconic Van Nelle Factory. Damn right. We’ll welcome you with open arms. Here’s how to fire it up and make your way to BlackSmoke.
Getting here:
BlackSmoke Rotterdam is easy to reach thanks to its unique location on the grounds of the iconic Van Nelle Factory. Whether you’re driving, taking public transport (just 8 minutes from Rotterdam Central Station and 8 minutes from Schiedam Station), or coming on foot, getting here is the easy part. The real challenge? Ever wanting to leave.

Easily accessible via the A4, A13 and A20 motorways. When you arrive, simply take a ticket at the entrance barrier and drive in. The parking area is located behind the main building.
Parking:
With over 1,500 parking spaces, there’s plenty of room—so bring your friends. Better yet, you’ll be parking at one of Rotterdam’s lowest rates.
The first 30 minutes are free. After that, parking costs just €1.50 for up to 2 hours, €2.50 for up to 4 hours, or €6.00 for a full day.
Public transportation:
Bus: Get off at Beukelsbrug / Van Nellefabriek (served by RET Frequent Bus 38 or Bus B9), then it’s just a 4-minute walk to the restaurant.
Please note: During the summer holidays, Bus 38 does not stop at the Van Nelle stop.
Tram: Get off at Spartastraat (Tram 8), then it’s an 11-minute walk to BlackSmoke. Or get off at Mathenesserbrug (Trams 21, 23 or 24), followed by a 14-minute walk.
